Spectacular 2007 FULDA Challenge is over 6th February 2007 Isolde Holderied once again accompanied the FULDA Challenge, held in Canada’s Yukon Territory, as tutor for the participants and the media. On Saturday, the competitors of the seventh FULDA Challenge celebrated the big finale. Following six days taking the entrants to the very limits of their stamina and nerves, the winners now can be delighted with what they have achieved. In the team rankings, local Team Canada claimed victory and was rewarded with a gold nugget. In the individual men’s rankings, Germany’s Simon Euler took title glory, with Canadian Jay Cherian securing first place in the women’s rankings, thus making it a double-win for her native country. The entrants had to prove their skills, willpower and physical stamina in a total of eleven disciplines such as a semi-marathon, a hovercraft race or a mountain-bike race, all held in freezing cold. For every entrant, the event represented a true test for his personal physical condition. Isolde, the experienced former rally ace that has experienced many adventures in the past, had a lot of fun during the course of the FULDA Challenge. “It once again proved to be an exciting experience,” she said. “The landscape was truly impressive and the same applies to the ambition and strength of the competitors. That not only goes for the winners, but also for the VIP competitors such as Wigald Boning, Birgit Fischer, Frank Busemann and Gunda Niemann-Stirnemann. But I have to admit that I’m looking forward to returning to the comparatively warm Germany now, having coped with the freezing cold of the Canadian winter over the past week.” |
