Isolde enjoys appearance at the Silvretta Classic Rally 13th July 2005 Last weekend, Isolde Holderied took part in the Silvretta Classic Rally. Driving a Toyota 2000 GT, she demonstrated her abilities on the scenic landscape of Vorarlberg, Austria. Last Thursday, 164 historic cars entered the eighth edition of the 2005 Silvretta Classic Rally Montafon, which was presented by ‘Motor Klassik’, a publication related to the popular German ‘auto, motor and sport’ magazine. Old timers dating until the year 1971 were allowed to take part. Isolde ran a Toyota 2000 GT, the same car Sean Connery used in the famous James Bond movie ‘You Only Live Twice’. On a 500 kilometres track, the rally passed through the scenic Montafon region, the Alp region of Bludenz, the Bregenzerwald and the Arlberg over the course of three days. On day one, the participants mastered the Silvretta Hochalpenstraße with 32 bends, leading onto the Bielerhöhe at no less than 2032 metres altitude. Several more demanding stages followed. “During this rally, driving steadily was the main focus,” Isolde explains. Great precision from the drivers was called for, as they had to reach the respective stage finish at a certain point in time. “All in all, the rally was good fun for me.” At the end of the event, Isolde was classified in 20 th position after having finished the rally seventh in 2004 and tenth in 2003. “So I have a target again for next year,” said the successful race driver, laughing. |
